Every year in the United States, 26,000 families are devastated by stillbirth. In addition, there are 4,500 sudden, unexpected infant deaths (SUID), including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Despite progress at reducing SIDS rates during the past decade, SIDS remains the leading cause of death for infants one month to one year of age.
In order to address these alarming statistics, First Candle is bringing together leading researchers, bereaved family members, health professionals and others to explore current research efforts and strategies for saving infant lives. The symposium will conclude with a “Day on the Hill,” where participants will visit with Congressional leaders to encourage our nation’s lawmakers to support critical legislation and programming that will help us reach our goal of a future where all babies survive and thrive.
There is no charge for the Symposium, but space is limited! A $25 registration fee will hold your spot and be used to offset food and beverage expenses at the Symposium. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on the 24th and breakfast on the 25th is included.
