Meijer Recalls Infant Shoes Due to Choking Hazard October 28th, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product:
Falls Creek infant boy shoes

Units: About 2,300

Importer: Meijer, of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Hazard: The shoe lace toggles can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries:
None reported.

Description:
This recall involves Meijer Falls Creek infant boy casual shoes with bungee laces and toggles. The brown leather shoes were sold in infant sizes 5 to 10 and have “Falls Creek” imprinted on the bottom of the shoe.

Sold at: Meijer stores nationwide from July 2010 through September 2010 for about $15.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled shoes from children. Consumers can remove and discard the toggles to eliminate the hazard or return the product to any Meijer store for a full refund.
