In 2001, Arizona became the first state to issue the Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth (CBRS). MISS Foundation Founder, Joanne Cacciatore, PhD, MSW, lobbied the Arizona legislature for more than a year to educate lawmakers about stillbirth and to rally support. With the help of many families who wrote and emailed their legislators, the MISSing Angels Bill passed in the Arizona Senate with unanimous support.
Currently, only 32 states issue a Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth (CBRS) to parents who experience a stillbirth death. To learn more, visit www.missfoundation.org.
