5th Annual Ava Brown Memorial 5K Run/Walk

Ava Elizabeth Brown is the daughter of Sarah and Robby Brown, little sister to Zach, and now big sister to Savannah. She was a healthy and happy little girl who passed away suddenly on April 15th, 2009 at 8 weeks, 2 days old. Her cause of death was determined as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. This memorial event has been established in her memory and honor, in order to help raise funds for vital research, education, and advocacy in the field of SIDS. All proceeds will benefit First Candle.
This memorial 5k Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 on a USATF certified 5k course (#MO09069BG), beginning and ending at beautiful Memorial Park in Jefferson City.
The 5th Annual Ava Brown Memorial 5K Run/Walk will again showcase Ava’s Amble, an option for individuals or families not wanting to complete the full 5K. Ava’s Amble will be an untimed, unmeasured fun run through the park for a less strenuous way to participate and support this great cause. There will be an avenue of Angels along the Amble route.
**T-shirts will be guaranteed to everyone registered by March 29, 2014.
Registration/Packet Pick-Up will begin at 8:00am with the Run/Walk starting at 9:00am.

Awards and Age Divisions:
The top three (3) finishers in the following age groups for both walkers and runners will receive a medal. Overall men and women runners will be awarded a trophy:
12 and Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+
Registration (now through March 29th, 2014):
Kids 12 and Under: $8.00
Ava’s Amble: $12.00
5K Age 13+ (if by March 29): $18.00
5K Age 13+ (after March 29, including day of race): $20.00

On April 24, 2013, my husband Frank & I suffered the tragic loss of our firstborn son. Stephen David Smith died of unknown reasons while he was 7 months in the womb.Stephen was a healthy baby from the very beginning. He loved waking mom up with his energetic kicks, he absolutely loved it when dad blew on mom’s belly, and boy did he love to eat! He was 3 1/2 lbs and 15 in. long!

In an effort to do something proactive and positive in Stephen’s memory, as his parents, we are proud to announce the 1st Annual Stephen Smith Family Fun Run. All proceeds from the event will benefit the programs and services of First Candle, the nation’s leader in the field of infant health and survival. Details of the Race:
- 3.1 mile run/walk race on paved bike paths
- Safe course, no busy streets to cross
- Registration from 8:30-9:00am
- Announcements 9:00am
- Race begins at 9:30am
- Awards and Raffles 11:00-11:30am
- There will be fun outdoor games for the the kids and a massage booth set up after the race ($1 per minute, all proceeds going to First Candle)
First Candle is a leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to safe pregnancies and the survival of babies through the first years of life. Current priorities are to eliminate Stillbirth, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) with programs of research, education and advocacy. 4th Annual Strides for a Find 5K Walk/Run

Please help us while we honor Bode James Wolfe during this 5K Run/Walk to benefit SIDS Research. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the race starts at 9:00 am. Even if you do not run/walk, come on out to check out our Silent Auction! Bidding starts at 8:00 am and the winners will be announced after the race.
With your help, we have raised over $25,000. With your continued support, we hope to raise even more to help benefit SIDS research.
Bode James Wolfe is the son of Matt and Gretchen Wolfe. He was born May 11, 2010,
and earned his angel wings on August 26, 2010, only 3 1/2 months later. His visit to our
world made all the difference to us and touched so many people. This event has been
established in his memory to celebrate his life as well as to raise money for research,
in hopes that one day no other family will have to experience this tragedy.
