Many individuals have implemented special events in their communities for years and already have a clear vision of what their event will be and what it will include. If that is the case for you, that is terrific and you are probably already enjoying the fruits of your labors. However, many people are just beginning the special event/fundraising process and have no idea where to start in planning a special event.

First Candle Will Support You

First Candle has developed a How-To Guide for Special Events to help you with your efforts. Whatever your event, we will work to support you with:

• Encouragement and consultation by national staff members experienced in event fundraising
• Management of all financial matters pertaining to your event, including all donor acknowledgments and thank you letters to event participants
• Email distribution
• Online payment options
• Attendance of a national or local member representative at your event, if possible
• Drafts of letters and supporting materials to help solicit items and funds for the event
• A list of media outlets in your community to assist in the promotion of your event
• Use of First Candle/SIDS Alliance logo and artwork
