First Candle is a national nonprofit health organization uniting parents, caregivers and researchers nationwide with government, business and community service groups to advance infant health and survival.   

Our mission is to promote infant health and survival during the prenatal period through two years of age through advocacy, education and research; while at the same time providing compassionate grief support to those affected by an infant death.  Our primary focus areas are:  Research, Education and Awareness, Family Support and Advocacy.

A Worthy Investment 
We are fortunate to receive more than one-third of our annual budget from individual supporters across our nation.  From contributions given in memory of an infant and proceeds from more than a dozen special events, to funds given through workplace campaigns in more than 30 states and generous gifts realized in the form of bequests, we rely on contributions from individuals just like you. 

And, we can guarantee that your contribution will be well spent:

• We meet all standards set by the National Charities Information Bureau.   

• Parenting & Parents recognized us as one of the top 15 children's charities. 

• Worth Magazine named the organization one of the nation's top 100 charities. 

• In 2002, our fundraising and administrative costs comprised only 12.5% of our total operating budget, well below the national standard of 25%.
