Bequests

Adding a charitable bequest to First Candle through your estate planning is one of the easiest ways that you can support our efforts.  There are a number of options available to you: a letter of intention, a lifetime pledge and immediate or deferred bequests.  For more information and to determine which option will best suit your needs and intent, we recommend you contact a local estate-planning attorney. 

If you choose to include First Candle in your estate plans, consider the following sample language:

Unrestricted Bequests
I give, devise and bequeath to First Candle, a tax-exempt organization, located at 1314 Bedford Avenue, Suite 210, Baltimore, MD 21208, the sum of $________(or real or personal property herein described), to be used for the general purpose of the organization at the discretion of its Board of Directors.

Restricted Bequests 
I give, devise and bequeath to First Candle, a tax-exempt organization, located at 1314 Bedford Avenue, Suite 210, Baltimore, MD 21208, the sum of $________ (or real or personal property herein described) for the purpose of (choose one:  research, advocacy, public education or family support services).
