About SIDS/SUID

First of all, please accept  our sincere sympathies on the death of your precious baby. We hope you have taken some time to grieve this devastating loss and are ready to begin picking up the pieces so you can move forward on your grief journey.

The death of a baby of any cause is devastating, but when a baby dies suddenly and unexpectedly parents are often left with more questions than answers. Every year, more than 4,500 babies die suddenly and unexpectedly (SUID). Of these, more than 2,300 are diagnosed as SIDS. Other causes of SUID include accidental suffocation, positional asphyxia and undetermined. While we don’t yet have all the answers, much progress has been made in recent years to understand SIDS/SUID and develop preventive strategies for parents and caregivers to follow.

We hope the information in this section will help answer your questions. If you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us so we can help you find the answers. You can call toll free at 1-800-221-7437.
