Autopsies

autopsies-text-graphicIf your baby has died suddenly and unexpectedly, chances are an autopsy will be required. We recognize this is difficult, but it is critical if we are to determine if there were any underlying causes for your baby’s death and to gather as much information as possible to help identify babies at greatest risk and prevent future deaths. With your permission, this information can be shared with researchers.

Agreeing to an autopsy does not prevent you from spending time with your baby or choosing to have a funeral, memorial service, cremation or burial. Most parents find that having this information is valuable as they try to deal with the impact of their loss and begin to move forward.
