Public Health Nurses
“A study
of Northern Plains Indians found that infants were less
likely to die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) if
their mothers received visits from public health nurses
before and after giving birth.” -DHHS, IHS, Dec 2002
More and
more, Public Health Nurses are becoming responsible for
conducting home visits to families that have lost an infant
to SIDS as well as conducting community outreach educational
programs to increase awareness of measures to reduce the
risk of SIDS. A PowerPoint Presentation specifically
addressing the needs and duties of Public Health Nurses has
been developed: Addressing the Health Disparities in SIDS,
Reducing the Risk of SIDS, and How to Conduct Home Visits.

copy of the PowerPoint Presentation on a CD ROM, please
