Kaiya’s Story

Kaiya Rae was born to first time parents, Andrea and Karl Purvis on June 17, 2010. She was a happy, loving, smiley, social, and all around wonderful baby. Andrea and Karl were thrilled with their daughter who was so happy and healthy for the first five months of her life.

On November 16, 2010, Kaiya was found barely breathing in her crib about 15 minutes after being put down for an afternoon nap. She was rushed to the hospital where every intervention was tried to save her life. On November 17, 2010 she passed away in the hospital. Since then Andrea and Karl have become incredibly dedicated to finding a cure for SIDS. This dedication is what has brought about the first ever Kaiya’s Kids for SIDS Golf Classic.
