Every year in the United States more than 25,000 families experience the stillbirth death of a baby. Sadly, statistics show that more than 50 percent of these deaths occur during the last trimester. The good news is that research has allowed experts to develop the first proactive strategy that may help reduce the risk of stillbirth – monitoring a baby’s activity during the last trimester of pregnancy.
In response, First Candle has partnered with the Heinz Family Philanthropies and All Baby & Child, Inc. to launch an exciting and innovative new campaign, Kicks Count! The campaign is designed to educate expectant parents and their health care providers about the importance of kick counting in monitoring a baby’s health beginning at 28 weeks (earlier for high risk pregnancies).
