To assist nurses in learning about SIDS, suffocation and safe sleep practices, we have collaborated with NICHD and national nursing organizations to develop a continuing education (CE) module that is approved for 1.1 hours of CE credit from the Maryland Nurses Association. The module includes information about SIDS, risk-reduction challenges and strategies, communicating about risk reduction and how nurses can help families reduce the risk of SIDS, suffocation and accidents during sleep. Nurses receive CE credit by doing the module themselves or an instructor can lead a group of nurses through the module.

The CE materials are free and single copies can be ordered from the NICHD website or larger quantities from NICHD’s Back to Sleep office.
